Professor Fan-Gang Tseng

Fan-Gang Tseng received the B.S. degree in power mechanical engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan in 1989, and the M.S. degree from the Institute of Applied Mechanics in National Taiwan University, Taiwan, in 1991. In 1998, he received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles, USA (UCLA), under the supervision of Prof. C.-M. Ho and C.-J Kim. His Ph.D work, a micro droplet injector, was licensed to BenQ Inc., Taiwan, for developing into a high-speed and top-quality inkjet printhead.  He jointed Engineering and System Science Department of National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan as an assistant professor from August, 1999, and was advanced to associate professor in August, 2002, as well as professor in August 2006.  He was serving as the ESS department chairman (2010-2013) and Associated Vice President (AVP) of NTHU in global affair (2013-2014), and is currently the Deputy Director of the Biomedical Technology Research Center (2006-present), NTHU. He was elected a fellow of American Society of Mechanical Engineer (ASME) in March 2014. His research interests are in the fields of Bio-NEMS, Nano/Micro-Fluidic Systems, Micro Fuel Cells, and Nano-Biosensors.  He received 69 patents, wrote 9 book chapters, published more than 220 SCI/EI Journal papers with a H index 22 and more than 1600 citations, and 360 conference technical papers in Bio-N/MEMS, Micro/Nano Fluidics, Micro Fuel Cells, and Biosensors related fields.  Prof. Tseng co-organized or co-chaired many conferences including IEEE MEMS, IEEE NEMS, IEEE Transducers, Micro TAS, ISMM, IEEE Nano, and IEEE Nanomed.  He received several awards, including Outstanding in research award (2010-2012), First Class in Research award (2006), and Mr. Wu, Da-Yo Memorial Award (2005-2008) from Ministry of Science and Technology, Taiwan, 2 National innovation awards, 10 best paper/poster awards (1991, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014), 8 NTHU Outstanding in Research Awards (2006-2014, top 4%), NTHU new faculty research award (2002), NTHU outstanding teaching award (2002), NTHU academic booster award (2001), and NSC research award (2000)        VIew CV(PDF)
